Changing the PC Owner's Name

Changing the owner name

(Editing the Registry should not be done without backing up your registry first)

Whether you bought a used computer from someone else or simply mistyped the information when you were installing Windows, it isn't difficult to change the Registered Owner information that appears on the General tab when you right-click My Computer and select Properties.

Using Regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE \Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion and scroll down the list of entries on the right until you see the RegisteredOwner key. Open it and enter any name you want. If it's a business computer, you can also open the adjacent RegisteredOrganization key and enter the name of your business.
